A few years ago, when my oldest son received his driver's license, he came to me and asked if he could have an American Muscle Car? Particullary a Chevy Nova.
I was delighted, but was a bit concerned about finding the money and time to make good on what he was asking.
As we searched through newspaper adds and continued checking out the local reminder paper, we became increasingly frustrated to see the cost of a Chevy Nova even in the worst of condition. However, as we continued our trek poking through the paper I spotted a 1979 Pontiac Phoenix for sale. At first I had no idea what a Phoenix was, but after goggling it on the internet, I found it to be Pontiac's version of the Chevy Nova. In fact, I later found that all of the GM makers had a version of the Chevy Nova. Buick made the Apollo, Olds made the Omega and Pontiac made the Phoenix. They were all designed on the same X-body, complete with the same features and engine, but this Phoenix was something we could purchase for a fraction of the cost..............$450.00.
After bringing the Phoenix home, it didn't take long before we started tearing into it and before long had the seized V-6 removed, interior out, rear out, front suspension out, etc, etc.
After 6 months, we had the intire car complete including a small block chevy, turbo-350 with overdrive, fresh interior and paint.
